Hillcroft Services Breaks Ground on Air Park Building Expansion Project

Phase Two of $9.2 Million Project Slated to Open in Spring of 2019

MUNCIE, IN (October 1, 2018) On Monday, Hillcroft Services hosted a public groundbreaking event in front of many campaign contributors, community leaders, board members, staff and media. This historic event celebrated the beginning of the construction on the 45,000 square foot addition to the existing Air Park Drive location. The project is the second phase of the $9.2 million Building Better Futures capital campaign in which $8.4 million in funding has been secured leaving $800K as the remaining goal of the public campaign. The project is slated to be completed in the spring of 2019.

While speaking to the the event attendees, Hillcroft Services President and CEO, Debbie Bennett, stated, “Moving all of our operations to one campus will facilitate more efficient, smoother and more collaborative operations with more effective distribution of both enhanced, as well as increased services. It will allow growth in programs and yet be more cost effective. This will also guarantee the creation of 100 new jobs of tax paying, employed, productive, individuals residing in east central Indiana. This is a good thing, not just for Hillcroft, but the community at large.”

The Building Better Futures campaign will allow Hillcroft to:

  • Consolidate services from several sites into one, providing Hillcroft the opportunity to expandand better serve clients on one main campus with greater accessibility.
  • Remodel the existing space at the Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) Clinic offering the opportunity for increased capacity, allowing Hillcroft to begin serving more children on the autism spectrum.
  • Create an additional 100 new jobs in Muncie by December of 2024.
  • Increase growth in our manufacturing division, Hillcroft Industries, by employing individuals without disabilities to work alongside our clients, creating a fully integrated work setting.

Campaign Co-Chair Andy Bowne, stated, “I am grateful for Hillcroft Services and it’s unique mission for serving people with disabilities. This is an exciting time in Hillcroft’s history, consolidating campuses into one for the benefit of clients, employees, and customers alike. Today we celebrate a milestone that will allow for families like mine to thrive for many years to come.”

Campaign Co-Chair Chris Cook, added, “When we look back on this day sometime in the future, my desire is not to remember how much money was raised or that a new building was built. The success of this campaign will be measured by a community appreciating and valuing those with disabilities for what they can do. Today is the beginning of that goal.”

While the public phase of the Building Better Futures campaign continues, Hillcroft is looking forward to watching the community join with them in investing in the future of Hillcroft Services’ facility consolidation and expansion to better serve the needs of those with disabilities in our community for the next 65 years and beyond.
