Muncie – M. Jeanette Taylor, 96, Muncie, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Golden Living Center.
Jeanette was born August 14, 1920 in Huntington, Indiana, the daughter of the late Charles and Montie (Jones) Waite.  She was a 1938 graduate of Salamonie High School and later graduated from Muncie Business College and belonged to Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority.  Jeanette was a member of High Street United Methodist Church.
She loved animals, gardening, painting pictures, and crocheting hats for all the babies at the hospital.  She was very well known by the Ball State students as “Grandma Neely”, they would do anything she needed to help her.  Jeanette was the last surviving founder of Hillcroft Services, Inc.  This all started with a dream on her front porch, being the parent of a special needs child she and four other families wanted more for their children and turned this dream into a reality.
Survivors include her daughter, Marsha Ann Baird, (husband-Gail), Muncie, IN; three grandchildren, Marcie Baird Burleson, (husband-David), Danville, IL; Melissa Baird Schafstall, (husband-Kelly), Muncie, IN; and Marie Baird Sheridan, (husband-Ryan), Carmel, IN; eight great-grandchildren, Marissa, Lukas, Jackson, Cheyanne, Drew, Sophie, Hailey, and Tyler; a niece, Jan VanMatre-Reed, (husband-Glen); and a nephew, Bruce Smith, (wife-Katie).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Montie Waite; husband, Robert Taylor; one son, Monte P. Taylor; sister, Hazel Marie Smith, (husband-Leonard); and her nephew, Wade Smith.
Services will be held at parson Mortuary at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 12, 2016 with Rev. Charolette Overmyer officiating.
Calling will be at the mortuary from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jeanette’s name to Hillcroft Services, Inc., 114 East Streeter Avenue, Muncie, IN 47303.
