A group of clients that are members of Hillcroft’s Advocacy Group got the chance to visit the Statehouse recently! They delivered Valentine’s to state representatives, toured the facility, and learned more about the Able Act.
First clients Kory, Taylor, Kelly, Brianna and Shirley met with Treasurer of State Kelly Mitchell to discuss the Able Act and how it will benefit clients with disabilities. You can learn more about the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act here.
Next the clients met with Amanda Circle, SAI Administrator. They toured some more and even got to meet with Governor Mike Pence!
Than we had time to explore the State House, see the House in session and got to see all the displays about Indiana.
They continued meeting with several different state representatives like the Secretary for State Auditor Suzanne Crouch, and the Executive Director for Indiana Secretary of State Connie Larson.
Advocacy leaders than went to enjoy lunch at the Circle Center Mall & explore the mall for a little while before heading back to Hillcroft!
