Testimonials

"I have found a new direction in my life. After trying unsuccessfully to find a new job, at 51 years of age, I was introduced to Hillcroft's Careers in Business classes. I learned to use a computer and after only a few months I have started my internship."

Psi Iota Xi Supports Independence at Camp Isanogel’s Pool

Published Thursday, September 1, 2011 12:30 pm by Elizabeth Piazza

Scott has been attending camp at Isanogel for over 40 years.  One of his favorite camp activities is swimming in the pool on hot afternoons.  With generous support from Psi Iota Xi Alpha Chapter, Scott and many other campers were able to access the pool with greater independence and safety this summer.

Mrs. Joan Bahlmann presented Psi Iota Xi Alpha Chapter with a $13,000 grant request on behalf of Hillcroft Services to support a pool lift and replace the pool’s chlorine feeder system.  Psi Iota Xi Alpha Chapter approved the grant request and provided valuable funding to support changes to the nearly 50 year old pool.  Psi Iota Xi was founded in Muncie in 1897 by a group of women who joined together to improve their community.  Over 100 year later, Psi Iota Xi has grown to 130 chapters and a membership of over 3,000 members.

Elizabeth Piazza, Vice President of Art and Recreation for Hillcroft, shares her gratitude for Psi Iota Xi Alpha Chapter’s support of the pool at Camp Isanogel.  “Campers who are unable to enter or access the pool on their own began referring to the lift as the ‘pool elevator’ and were excited for their turn to use it.  Prior to the addition of the lift, campers with mobility limitations were physically assisted by camp staff while entering and exiting the pool.  The addition of the lift allows campers the opportunity to enter and exit the pool with greater independence and dignity”

Looking forward to the future, Scott, and over 200 other children and adults with disabilities each summer, will float, swim and play in the pool that has been made more safe and inclusive through Psi Iota Xi Alpha Chapter’s generous gift.
