Hillcroft One of State’s Leaders in Training Techniques
Valla Dia is a Direct Support Professional at Hillcroft. She provides services to adults with Developmental Disabilities in a 24-hour Supported Living Site. Valla Dia is celebrating her 8th anniversary with Hillcroft this month and works third shift. Valla Dia really enjoys helping clients gain greater independence. Part of her role as a Direct Support Professional is to complete ongoing professional development at Hillcroft. Professional Development in Positive Behavior Support, Medication Administration, Universal Precautions, and Prevention of Abuse and Neglect are tools that Direct Support Professionals, like Valla Dia, use on a daily basis.
Beginning in September, Hillcroft’s Direct Support Professionals will be able to access professional development opportunities through Hillcroft’s collaboration with the College of Direct Supports. The College of Direct Supports (CDS) is a web-based learning management system that is available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. The CDS will allow Direct Support Professionals to engage in professional development opportunities at times and in locations that are convenient for them. Hillcroft is one of four agencies providing services to children and adults with disabilities in Indiana that is utilizing the CDS web-based learning environment.
Becky Donovan, Vice President of Human Resources at Hillcroft, is excited for this opportunity to engage Direct Support Professionals in high quality learning opportunities that are flexible with the staffs’ schedules and needs.
